DIRECTOR'S MESSAGE

SALAM SEJAHTERA AND SALAM IBU PERTIWIKU,

The year 2019 was challenging, exhilarating and unforgiving yet significantly historical. It was the year we launched Ops Rabies under Arahan MKN20 (NADMA). It was also the second year we were granted independent status as an autonomous institution from Department of Agriculture (DOA) on 25th January 2017.

Therefore, I call on everyone to use these opportunities to accomplish greatness, helping our colleagues and contemporaries to resolve some outstanding issues regarding disease eradication, especially in the light World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) disease-free status.  Restructuring the department will also have an impact on the structure of our governance, in strengthening our veterinary health and livestock industry development sectors, and that will need to be addressed.

Successful agencies function effectively because of their established policies and procedures. Just as in any government departments, our vision and mission are unachievable unless all of us, from top management to the supervisors, to the frontliners are monitoring and adhering to achieve greatness within Department of Veterinary Services Sarawak (DVSS) family. Manual Work Procedures (MWP) and Desk File must be instituted as a core standard of practice in 2020.

As we are moving towards the end of 11th Malaysia Plan, we need to double our effort this year, with programmes and projects we planned and proposed for the 12th Malaysia Plan in order to achieve our mission and vision to become the net exporter by the year 2030. The year 2020 is the end of RMK-11.

Let us therefore engage, undertake, and participate in decision making at every level. In our department, everyone has the right to express his or her views and to stand up for the principles that are important. Let us use this right with pleasure because that is the true meaning of freedom.

Last but not least, I would like to congratulate everyone once again for fighting alongside us throughout 2019. Do not stay aside, observe, participate, and create greatness for DVSS in 2020. Let us live, work and celebrate this year so that each of us can say with even greater pride and confidence to say “I’m in DVS Sarawak!”.
